Meet Kelley Buttrick
Content Creator – Brand Ambassador – Nanoinfluencer
Encouraged by her daughter, a sought-after content creator and influencer, Kelley Buttrick expanded her voiceover business to include on-camera content creation.
Having won four Telly Awards for her content and once owning more than 25% of the Jeep brand’s Twitter content, Kelley had already done content creation before content creators became a thing. A firm believer in authenticity, she has been a brand advocate and ambassador for brands sharing her interests and areas of expertise for years, through self-produced content, professionally-produced content she wrote, and user generated content (UGC).
Kelley’s content expertise revolves around her personal interests, values and genuine life experiences.
She and her husband, now Empty Nesters, live on a lake where both of them work from their house. As a freelancer working in the gig economy for more than 10 years, Kelley is well versed in work/life integration.
Whenever possible, she is traveling and has extensive experience with travel both inside and outside of the United States. While traveling, she brings her work with her, oftentimes knocking out voiceover projects and communicating with her VO clients before her family wakes up for the day.
Kelley says working in a 4×5 soundproof, padded box in her basement studio all day as a voice actor is what fuels her love of the outdoors. In fact, she created the Think Outside Thursday and Think Outside Encounters newsletters to inspire others to enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. When not traveling, Kelley takes her camper and her dog to the wilderness for hiking, kayaking and enjoying downtime outside with her camping group.
As an active member of women’s off-roading groups, Kelley is also often found pushing her vehicle to its limits (safely of course).
In what little free time she has, Kelley volunteers to walk dogs at her local shelter, upcycles old jewelry into car charms, and does laundry (Yes, she genuinely loves doing laundry-just not putting it away).

Meet JD
Content Canine – Dog Brand Ambassador – Best Friend
Since his angel was up at college, caring for JD fell to Kelley. Being heartworm positive, she had to keep him confined to her VO recording studio for months nursing him back to health. They formed a close bond, and JD has been Kelley’s shadow ever since.
While he’s not big on swimming, JD loves wading in the lake and riding on Kelley’s kayak. When not snoozing outside of her voice-over booth, he enjoys long walks through the neighborhood, hiking in the woods and going camping in the Buttrick’s camper trailer.
One of his eyes is ice blue and the other is golden brown, a condition called Heterochomia. He’s proud of his fluffy tail and is just as sweet as he is handsome.
JD has starred in UGC for Chippin’ and OLLIE as well as made many appearances in content Kelley creates for her business and as a brand ambassador. He’s no diva and loves showing off his goofy personality for the camera.
The types of projects JD would love to produce UGC or be a brand ambassador for include:
• Dog Food • Dog Treats • Leashes • Collars |
• Dogwear • Outdoor Dog Gear • Dog Car Safety Items • Dog Toys |
• Dog Life Jackets • Dog Bowls • Dog Beds • Training Aids |

Off-Road
Exploring on four wheels is one of Kelley’s favorite pastimes ever since her sweet stepdad would bounce the family along the shores of Lake Michigan on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.
With her sweet stepdad, Kelley took a father/daughter off-road class where she learned the basics of off-road driving and the capabilities of her Jeep. For John, it was a fun refresher, and he loved pushing the limits of his Jeep that day.
Since then, Kelley has taken more beginner and intermediate off-road courses in addition to being active in several female-focused and local off-road groups.
Fun Facts about Content Creation,
Brand Ambassadors, Influencers & UGC
People ultimately trust other people, so it’s essential to think of UGC as the modern-day word of mouth.
59.8% of marketers agree that authenticity and quality are equally important elements of successful content.
Of all the social media sites, LinkedIn is the second-most popular platform among B2B marketers, just behind Facebook
52 percent of buyers list LinkedIn as the most influential channel during their research process.
Product reviews, Instagram photos, unboxing videos — these are unfiltered ways of evaluating an offer that “increase shopper confidence.
90% of consumers say User Generated Content holds more influence over their buying decisions than promotional emails and even search engine results.
93% of marketers agree that consumers trust content created by customers more than content created by brands. This signals that UGC is the perfect format for businesses to level up their trust score.
The creator economy is exploding. Culture is having a special moment right now, where things are coming from the ground up. As a brand, you have to pay attention.
Research shows that real life influencers who are passionate about what they are recommending have significantly more buying conversations, and consumers are more likely to act on their recommendations.
Brand marketers and digital agencies are increasingly allocating social media budgets toward user-generated content (UGC) from small creators and away from big-ticket deals with internet celebs. For many companies that pivoted to the UGC model out of sheer necessity during the pandemic, the results have been astonishing.
UGC drew customers to us because it felt real. They could see themselves in that moment, whether it was the camera angle or the way people looked, and the enjoyment factor was genuine. It drove an emotional connection with our content that was a little bit unexpected.
Unscripted, off-the-cuff content we created blew the direct-response-style content away in all of our metrics. Testimonials [also] always do well and continue to perform in simple static ads with real people.
Contrary to popular belief, the majority of consumers prefer following influencers who look and act like us rather than celebrities.
